About Us
Verismo Communications is a Chicago-based PR firm that amplifies the voices of women, queer folks, and people of color in classical music.
We’re known for our authenticity, integrity, and rock-solid reliability – with a healthy dose of quirky charm. We invest our energy in stories that show how classical music engages with the world today, and we represent artists, projects, and organizations that align with our values. Our work has propelled clients to high-profile features on The Today Show, BBC World, Nightline, The New York Times, and CNN, and landed them on the covers of glossies like BBC Music Magazine, Classical Music, Opera News, Opera Now, and Opera.
About The Job
Social Media Manager • Chicago or NYC • $50,000 – $65,000
You’ll collaborate on some of the most authentic and exciting accounts in classical music to help move this industry forward. An average workweek might see you cooking up conductor Stories strategies, planning a brand collaboration for Pride, and perfecting your quick-packing skills to support clients on the ground.
Full-time benefits include workers comp and disability coverage, paid holidays, sick leave, family & medical leave, and flexibility for hybrid work. We also offer unlimited paid vacation – we trust our team to manage their time effectively and recharge as they need, and we recommend each team member take at least four weeks off each year.
About You
You’re a pro.
You have at least two years of experience as a social media manager, handling strategy and execution for multiple brands, and you’ve grown at least one of those accounts to more than 25k followers.
You ooze creative energy...
You have an eye for what stops the scroll, and next time we do a #Valhallantine collab, you’ll be revising a Wagnerian-themed limerick while the dabblers are still counting their haiku syllables.
…and you’re all about the data.
You understand that social media requires experimentation – you examine data to figure out what works, and you won’t hesitate to jettison an ineffective tactic.
You’re wild about classical music.
You have Opinions on #newmusic Twitter, and you can pinpoint exactly why your favorite opera Insta slaps.
Your attention to detail is next-level.
You would call out your own grandmother (kindly!) if she mixed up their/they’re/there, and you have engaged in more than one friendly argument about grammar rules.
You believe in “Yes, and…”
You can speak with authority in the C-suite, swap memes with an opera company’s social media team, and switch between brand voices without breaking a sweat.
You come to play.
And you’re gonna tell us how in your intro email!
